Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  How often should I change the filters on my system?

On the BELOW THE COUNTER (3.0 GPM unit), approximately once every three (3) years, depending upon the actual amount of sediment or particulate matter present in your water supply.  Typically, when the 1-micron filter is extremely dirty, there will be a noticeable drop in water pressure through the system since the water is no longer able to properly flow through it. In those instances, you would change the filter sooner.

On the ABOVE THE COUNTER (.7 GPM unit), approximately once every two (2) years, depending upon the actual amount of sediment or particulate matter present in your water supply.  Typically, when the 1-micron filter is extremely dirty, there will be a noticeable drop in water pressure through the system since the water is no longer able to properly flow through it. In those instances, you would change the filter sooner. While it would not be unusual to keep the filters for more than 2 years, a 2-year change of this filter is recommended.

Q: Do the GLOBAL LS3 FILTER SYSTEMS remove COPEPODS from the water?

Yes.  Since COPEPODS range from 30 microns to 50 microns in size, the 1-micron filters will remove the COPEPODS.

Q:  Where should the GLOBAL system be installed?

This becomes a personal preference.

The lower flow rated (.7 gallons per minute), above the counter system, does an excellent job of purifying the water. In this instance the filter housing sits on top of the counter next to the sink. It is activated by pulling out the knob on the adapter. It installs in seconds and requires no plumber or technical know-how. It is also less expensive than the below counter unit.

The higher flow rate system (3.0 GPM) is recommended to be placed under the kitchen sink (connected directly to the cold water line) and, whenever possible, under any sink in the home where water is consumed. This unit will handle the flow rate of the normal municipal water in your sink(s). It is always on (i.e.: all cold water flowing will go through the purifier). It does require a more technical installation and it does cost more than the above the counter unit.

Q:  How much space does the GLOBAL installation typically require?

The systems requires minimal installation space: Under the counter, allow an area approximately 1-feet high by 6" wide by 6" deep. On the counter, this is a 4" diameter.

Q:  How difficult is it to install the complete system?

The GLOBAL systems will be shipped Pre-Assembled and Ready-To-Install which greatly simplifies the installation process and significantly reduces installation time and cost.

Above the counter systems take a minute or two with no technical know-how.

The Under-The-Counter installation of the GLOBAL system is simple and straight-forward; and while we recommend using  a licensed plumber to insure proper installation, any individual who is handy with tools could install these in a probably 15 - 30 minutes.

Q:  How much does it cost to install the Under-The-Counter unit?

The unit, if installed by a licensed plumber, should cost about $30 - $40. (Pricing depends on location and typical service charges.)

Q:  How much maintenance is required for my unit?

Typically, the only maintenance required for the unit is replacing the filters on a two or three year basis. Should the filter become clogged earlier than that, you simply replace it. Filters are replaced by turning off the cold water connection (under the sink); then use the spanner wrench (included with the unit) to loosen the filter housing; unscrew the filter housing, remove the old filter (putting it in the garbage) and replace it with a new filter; re-fasten the filter housing using the spanner wrench. This whole process can be a few minutes or less. Above-The-Counter units are even simpler.

Q:  How much do the replacement filters cost?

The Above-The-Counter replacement filter will cost about $19.95 (estimated every year) and the Under-The-Counter filter currently costs $69.95. (Future prices might vary, but not by much.)
